Establishing and implementing of KPI about hospital defect administration

Objectives: To explore key performance index (KPI) design and the methods of critical value to provide technical support for intuitive defect management. Methods: Influence factors of defects such as nosocomial infection, complications of surgery, incision infection in aseptic surgery and death due to narcosis were analyzed. KPI indices of different displaying level were constituted and critical value was determined. Results: Through the display of multi-level instrument panel, administrators can intuitively predict the happening of problems, take preventive measures, and eliminate defects in early time. Conclusions: Defect management KPI indices are mainly attained based on prediction of defects, which provide intime alerting information for administers and allow them to take preventive measures to reduce the occurrence of defects. KPI indices need frequent maintenance and updating.
