Crude wax extraction from filter cake in stirred tank

Swenson's process for crude wax extraction from rotary vacuum filter cake, a by-product from cane sugar production, has several disadvantages i.e, high consumption of energy and solvent and enormous volume of waste. Crude wax extraction from filter cake in stirred tank as an alternative to Swenson's process is studied. Effect of different factors on the extraction process as temperature, time extraction and stirrer speed were investigated. The advantages of the two stages countercurrent process versus the batch single stage using stirred tank in wax extraction from filter cake was demonstrated.
