INVESTIGATIONS OF THE GEOMAGNETIC FIELD OVER THE TERRITORY OF LITHUANIA

Abstract Six special field stations for repetitive measurements of the geomagnetic field on the Lithuanian territory were established in 1999. The stations are assigned for investigating the secular variations of geomagnetic field. The micro-survey for determining the horizontal gradient of the magnetic field in the vicinity of each station was performed before starting the measurements at the points. The magnetic field vector modulus using proton magnetometer and magnetic declination and inclination applying Flux D/I magnetometer were performed at the stations in July 1999. The geographical azimuths of the chosen directions to the ground aims, for determination the magnetic declination, were computed using observations of the Sun. Daily variation corrections were computed using data from geomagnetic observatory in Belsk, Poland. The second measurements of these points were performed in 2001. Geomagnetic stations ŽIEŽMARIAI, SYLIAI, TRYSKIAI, SAUKOTAS, PAROVĖJA and DUSETOS became absolute stations for det...
