Deformation and stress calculation for a 200m high CFRD

The 3D nonlinear FEM is used to predict the deformation and stress of a proposed 233m high CFRD. By analysis of the calculated results of the strain of the face slab and comparison with the measured data of some similar existing projects, an anticrack analysis is performed for the face slab, and it is concluded that there is no clear relationship between the strain extremum and dam height. The research shows that the face slab construction in stages will result in complex deformation and stress of the dam body, so the procedure of dam filling construction should be optimized, that a reasonable zoning of materials should be performed, and that the deformation predicted for the dam body is within its tolerable limit. So the design scheme for the CFRD is reasonable in technology.
