VoiceThread as a Tool in Online BSW Education

ABSTRACT This paper presents pilot study results with 59 students enrolled in online Bachelor of Social Work courses that used VoiceThread (VT), an asynchronous communication platform. This study explored benefits and limitations associated with using VT to complete assignments, learn course content, and engage classmates. Students completed an online survey related to their VT experiences, with results indicating VT was effective in helping students engage with classmates and professors, learn course content, and improve presentation skills. Implications for using VT to facilitate learning in online courses is discussed. However, further research is needed to support the use of VT in online courses.
