A multi-channel telemetry unit for monitoring distribution switching station

This paper describes a design of a multi-channel telemetry unit for monitoring distribution switching station based on TMS320F28016 DSP. It details the composition of the hardware block diagram and the design of software. It is capable of measuring multi-channel three-phase voltage and current. In the software, it adopts Fast Fourier Transform to compute multi-channel three-phase voltage, current, reactive and active power. It adopts analog mixed with digital methods to get an accurate zero-sequence current and improves the recognition accuracy of the single-phase grounding fault. At the same time, the system reliability is also improved. Besides, the communication approaches such as serial communication interface and eCAN bus between the telemetry unit and external terminal are also introduced.
