Effect of Protected on Unprotected Circuits in Case of Indirect Lightning Flashes to Overhead Lines

This paper intends to investigate whether the installation of an SPD system on a secondary distribution board, to protect an apparatus derived, can have a beneficial protective effect also on other apparatus supplied by other distribution boards on which SPD systems have not been installed. Indeed, this could lead to significant cost savings in construction of the electrical system. The analysis are performed by means of commercial electromagnetic transient program EMTP-RV and are discussed in light of probability of damage reduction.
