EXAMINATION AND OPTIMIZATION OF DISPERSION AND HYSTERESIS OF LINEAR AXIS BY MACHINE TOOLS

The paper deals with a new design in non-hysteresis linear motion systems. Systematic examinations with the Guideway-Measuring- and Analyzing System (GMAS), developed at the IWF, have shown that high precision positioning of grinding machines (<= 1.2 μm) is impossible when kinematic design principles are not applicated, especially in the “6th point”(point where drive system/lead ball screw are attached). A mathematical model of the whole linear motion system shows the coincidence of theoretical and experimental results. The optimization is a new element, designed according to the kinematic design principle, called Hysteresis Exclude System (HES). So it is possible to realize high precision without expensive assembly and production. Further it is possible to retrofit existing machines.
