High-Level Petri Net Modelling of Phased Mission Systems

We propose a general methodology for the modelling and evaluation of phased mission systems, based on a Markov Regenerative Stochastic Petri Net approach. By exploiting the expressiveness and the representativity of MRSPN, we achieve a compact and neat modelling of even quite complex systems, relaxing many restrictive limitations of the other approaches appeared in the literature. Our approach turns out in an exact and highly computationally efficient analytical solution method, which is applicable to a wide range of PMS scenarios.
