Four-Core Optical Fiber Micro-Hand

A four-core single fiber optical micro-hand is proposed and fabricated by the fiber etched method. The optical power incident and control were realized by splice and tapered a normal single mode single core fiber with the four-core fiber. By bending the coupling zone between the single core fiber and the four-core fiber, one can get a rotation toque working on a micro-particle, and can realize the particle controllable rotating. The theoretical simulation about controlling method is worked by the Beam Propagating Method and FDTD method, and the real-time experiment controlling photos were also given. This four-core optical fiber micro-hand can trap and rotate the micro-particle as ease as a human hand.
