Skidding Forces of Tree Length Logs Predicted by a Mathematical Model

ABSTRACT A simple mathematical model for predicting the tree length skidding force has been developed. The skidding force is expressed as a function of log geometry, total weight and coefficient of skidding. The coeffi-cient of skidding was determined under laboratory conditions. The validity of the model developed was examined by comparing the predicted line pull and angle of line pull with field measurements.
