The optical ferroelectric ceramic as working body for electrocaloric refrigeration

Abstract The step-like change of the temperature at the field-induced first-order phase transition in the lead scandium tantalat (PST) ceramic is used for the electrocaloric refrigeration. The high values of the electrocaloric effect δT = 1.4 − 1.8 K at E = 15 − 25 kV/cm confirm a high efficiency of energy transformation in PST type materials and feasibility of the efficient micromodel of an electrocaloric refrigerator with PST active elements.
