Decomposition of 3D objects into compact subobjects by analysis of cross-sections

Abstract The paper develops a method of decomposing three-dimensional (3D) objects, defined by binary arrays, into compact (i.e. ellipsoid-like) subobjects by analysing the stack of 2D arrays containing cross-sections of the objects.
