An analytical study to develop correlations between wave characteristics and longshore sediment transport along the perimeter of the Adra River Delta (Spain) has been carried out. Wave characteristics are based on visual data and buoy data. Five regions are defined along the delta in view of the grain size, which varies in range 0.33<D50<2.0(mm). Total sediment transport in each region is evaluated from aerial photographs covering a 30‐year period. Calculated K values decrease with increasing D50. A diagram including results taken from other studies together with the present values is given. Although there are appreciable differences between the techniques followed to obtain the data, the diagram shows a consistent variation of K with D50.
