Vibration reduction of IPM type BLDC motor using negative third harmonic elimination method of air-gap flux density

This paper proposes the harmonics elimination method by distribution alternation of radial flux density for the vibration and noise minimization of a interior type permanent magnet (IPM) motor. For minimization of vibration and noise, the optimal notches due to the shape of magnetic field are designed on the rotor pole face. The variations of vibration computation by finite element method (FEM) and the validity of the analysis and rotor shape design are confirmed by vibration and performance experiments.
