Method for extracting panoramic image from forward-looking borehole peering video

The invention discloses a method for extracting a panoramic image from a forward-looking borehole peering video. The method includes firstly, extracting each frame of images from the forward-looking borehole peering video; secondly, confirming a round area of effective information contained in each image; thirdly, converting round area images into rectangular images according to a coordinate conversion formula; fourthly, confirming positions and widths needing to be cut off in all the images respectively according to the corresponding position relations between peering images and a borehole wall, the peering probe moving speed and the number of video frames per second; finally, collaging all the images subjected to cutting off according to the sequence of original images in the video so as to obtain the panoramic image of the borehole wall. The method is applicable to all forward-looking borehole peering systems and can convert the peering video into the panoramic image without any change on hardware so as to conduct precise quantitative analysis and statistics.
