Vibration behaviour of stators of electrical machines, part II: Experimental study

Abstract A method for the determination of resonant frequencies and natural response of stators has been described in the companion paper [1]. Experimental investigations were carried out on the model presented in the companion paper with a view primarily to examine the validity of the analysis, and also to acquire a physical understanding of the nature of vibrations and mechanical response of thick cylindrical shells representing stators. In this paper, the results of experimental investigations along with the values of resonant frequencies and associated mode shapes of the model are presented. The results of experimental investigations strongly support the method of analysis and the theoretical results.
