New electrochemical cell for pitting corrosion testing

Abstract An electrochemical cell for pitting corrosion testing—the Avesta pitting cell—is described. The purpose of this new design is to eliminate crevice corrosion in the crevice formed between the specimen and the specimen holder. Tests with the cell show that crevice corrosion can be completely eliminated at all temperatures relevant for testing in aqueous solutions.
