Thisarticledescribeshowsmallunmannedaircraftsystems(sUAS)aregrowingatarapidpace. Theyareinexpensiveandwidelyavailableforbothhobbyistandcommercialuse.However,withthis rapidgrowth,regulationsarehavingadifficulttimekeepingpacetosafelyincorporatetheminto theUnitedStatesNationalAirspace.RecentregulationsrequiringtheregistrationofallsUAShave beenoverturnedbytheUnitedStatesCourtsofAppeals.Thisresearchprovidesastatisticalanalysis oftheeffectivenessoftheregistrationregulationinthereductionofunauthorizedandcarelesssUAS operationpriortobeingoverturnedbythecourts.Statisticalanalysisincludingdescriptivestatisticsand chisquarehypothesistestswereusedtoanalyzemorethan3,000reportedunauthorizedandcareless events.Thefindingsshowasignificantdifferenceineventspre-registrationandpostregistration.
