Web Document Prefetching on the Internet

As a general system technique to reduce the access latency by fetching to-beused documents based on predictions before they are requested, prefetching has been studied in the Web environment. Several kinds of prefetching schemes are proposed to reduce client perceived latency in different steps. In this chapter, we will review and examine prefetching techniques, focusing on document prefetching.
