Development of low cost portable ARM processor based GCS data interface module for range sensors network

The UAVs are controlled and monitored by ground pilot using GCS. The GCS provides the interfaces for controlling the flight of UAV through a customized console. The GCS serves two major purposes, firstly it packetizes the command word and sends it to the active antenna for transmitting it to UAV using uplink radio transmission and receives positional and health parameter using downlink. A Test Range is a facility with dedicated tracking sensors, communication systems, data processing unit and free air space for test and evaluatation of UAV system. For evaluation of the UAV, the onboard data should be communicated to the data processing unit. The data from the GCS varies in size, format and transmission modes form one UAV to another. Here we present a solution for interfacing the data processing unit with GCS using a ARM based board. The interface module is handy, low cost and needs low power.
