Overvoltages at Motor Terminals in SiC Electric Drives

The significant improvements in dynamics of power electronic devices to be used also in industrial electric drives have brought again the attention of researchers to the overvoltage effects rising at the electric motor terminals. The aim of this work is to provide a general and easy to apply method to identify the values of the parameters for a proper high frequency model of an induction machine and a power cable, in order to evaluate qualitatively the overvoltage effects in an industrial electric drive. A prototype was set up on purpose to run experimental results for the validation of the achieved modeling for the electric drive.
