Predictions of Instability Using the Modified J , J M -Resistance Curve Approach

This paper presents a method for predicting the behavior of an untested structure using the modified J, J M -resistance curve approach. The method combines the J M -R curve, calibration functions, and the expression for J M for the untested geometry to provide the load-load point displacement characteristics and the J M -T M diagram of the structure. These two records contain all the information needed to assess structural behavior, maximum load, the tendency for instability, and the load-point displacement at every point.
