Application of fiber Bragg grating filter/tap module to a wavelength-locked low-chirp directly-modulated 10 Gb/s RZ transmitter

In summary we have demonstrated a fiber Bragg grating discriminator and tap monitor module for use in a low-chirp, high-power directly modulated RZ source at 10 Gb/s for ultra-long haul DWDM transmission systems. The fiber gratings provide both pulse shaping and wavelength locking capability in a compact all-fiber design.
