Method for registering and authenticating a fingerprint to improve recognition rate of it

A fingerprint registration/authentication method for improving a fingerprint recognizes rate is provided to improve a fingerprint recognition rate remarkably by classifying/registering a plurality of fingerprint images inputted from the same user into a plurality of patterns and recognizing/updating fingerprint data inputted for each authentication through pattern classification. A plurality fingerprint images are received from a user wanting to register a fingerprint. A quality score of each input fingerprint image is calculated. A template score of each fingerprint image is calculated through matching using a similarity algorithm by using the quality score of each fingerprint image. A pattern of the inputted fingerprint image is classified according to the template score. Each fingerprint template classified into each pattern is arranged and registered to a template record in order of the template score. The template score is calculated by using the quality score of each fingerprint image and a comparison score between the inputted fingerprint images.
