In addition, transmission rate of the WLAN network is far faster than the GPRS network adopted on the prior art so that the transmission rate of the multimedia message can be greatly improved through the WLAN network accomplishing transmission of the multimedia message. Meanwhile, due to the fact that the transmission rate is improved, the size of the content of sending and receiving the multimedia message can be greatly improved, requirements of clients that sharing photos, audios and videos through the multimedia message are preferably met and degree of satisfaction of user experience is improved. Moreover, fee is collected according to the data usage quantity of multimedia message transmission through the WLAN network. Compared with the existing GPRS network transmission, the method and the system for sending and receiving the multimedia message is capable of reducing multimedia message expenses of terminal users.
