Deployment simulation of inflatable space tube

In order to understand the deployment dynamics of inflatable space tubes intensely, a deployment simulation is made. A multibody model of the inflatable tube is built up, according to Wang and Johnson's finite element research results, the changeable configuration and the inner pressure of the tube are considered in the model. The relationship between the deployment angle, deployment velocity, deployment acceleration and deployment time is obtained through the simulation. Results reveal that the deployment velocity increases first, then decreases after reaching the climax; additionally, there exists a fluctuation of acceleration in the deployment process. The bigger the charge rate is, the more remarkable the fluctuation is. Simulation results are verified by the reported testing results.
