Bond graph interpretation of one-dimensional fluid flow

Abstract Compressible fluid flow in a pipe segment is a basic phenomenon which is recognized in a large number of systems. In this paper, such flows are treated from a system dynamicist's point of view. Based on a control volume formulation, a state space computational model is developed. Compared to analytical solutions and experimental data, the model is shown to be accurate. To enhance system modelling, the model is bond graph interpreted.
