Development of a general-purpose demand-side battery energy storage system

This paper presents a design and implementation of battery energy storage system (BESS) for general applications in a demand-side industrial power system. Different control modes for operating BESS to improve demand-side power supply capability is studied. The basic principle using the conventional control method is implemented to accomplish the desired control functions. The proposed methods are proved by both theoretical simulations and experimental test results on a prototype BESS.
