The purpose of this paper is to determine an optimal production lotsize for multi-item production. That is, an optimal lotsizing is made for multi-item production on a single machine by taking account of the setup time, such that an average leadtime for producing one unit of the items is minimized, under the condition that the demand for each item is known and is constant over an infinite planning horizon. By the model developed, several experiments are carried out to evaluate the effects of the average setup time, the number of items and the machine utilization on the average production leadtime.
