A case of calcifying aponeurotic fibroma of the scalp: case report and review of the literature.

Calcifying juvenile aponeurotic fibromas are slow-growing, painless soft tissue tumors that were first described by Keasbey in 1953. Calcifying aponeurotic fibromas are mostly detected on hands and feet of young children. Although approximately 77% of the cases reported in the literature were seen on hands, especially on the palms and fingers, approximately 13% of the cases were seen on feet. The rest of the cases were reported on forearm, wrist, elbow, arm, shoulder, abdominal wall, lomber fascia, paravertebral muscles, thigh, knee, and leg. According to Enzinger and Weiss, calcifying aponeurotic fibroma affects males more with a ratio of 70% and familial relationship was not reported. In this case report, we present a case of calcifying aponeurotic fibroma located at the scalp that has not been previously reported in the literature.
