2D Materials as THz Generators, Detectors, and Modulators: Potential Candidates for Biomedical Applications

Abstract This chapter deals with the application of 2D materials (2DMs) for terahertz (THz) sources, modulators, and detectors aiming for future biomedical applications. This chapter gives an overview of 2DMs for THz imaging, modulating, and sensing applications to overcome some of the present bottlenecks with THz conventional materials. The recent progress of the graphene-based THz emitters, detectors, and modulators has been discussed with comprehensive review with emphasizing on the basic concepts, helpful for both materials scientists and biologists, in the THz field.
