An Interactive System for Object-Oriented Database Design

The paper describes an interactive system for the design of object-oriented databases offering different levels of support depending upon the level of user expertise and the complexity of the application. The system supports and, indeed encourages, the reuse of existing database designs and parts thereof. In addition, the various forms of representation and mode of interface can be used to aid design validation. The emphasis in this paper is on the dialogue mode of interaction and its use in both the formation and validation of database schemas.
