Beyond information quality

Information quality is a concept with many facets. The German Documentation Conference (Deutscher Dokumentartag) of 1993, held in the city of Jena discussed the concept and tried to go beyond the perspective of information management. The shaping of high quality information products in a news magazine (Der Spiegel) and a professional organization for technical communication (tekom) was described. The competence to achieve sucessful quality management should be built up through education and research. Also, it was stated that the aesthetic quality of information has not been sidered sufficiently, especially in electronic information systems. Finally, information quality was discussed in its social and ethical context
