Programming Languages or Generic Software Tools, for Beginners' Courses in Computer Literacy?.

The question of the best method by which to teach computer literacy has been raised anew as a consequence of developing new curricula for this subject. We will therefore try to investigate arguments for the two main different approaches. The main danger when discussing this problem is putting too much emphasis on the technical aspects and implementation details. In our investigation we will try to concentrate on the pedagogical issues. Thus we will try to clarify the implicit assumptions made when choosing either of the two possible strategies.
