Analysis of Optimal Location for Campus Solar-powered Electric Vehicle Parking Lots Using a Fisheye Lens Camera

Sales of electric vehicles (EVs) have recently increased because of growing interest in their environment and technological benefits. To promote the efficient use of solar-powered EVs, a dedicated parking lot can be installed in locations where a significant quantity of solar power is incident. In this study, 16 parking lots (A1-A8, B1-B8) at the Daeyeon Campus of the Pukyong National University were analyzed for their suitability as solar-powered EV parking lots. Images of the sky were captured at each parking lot with a fisheye lens camera, and light-receiving obstacles were analyzed by superimposing the solar path. Subsequently, the solar access values of 16 candidate sites were calculated, and the A1 parking lot was selected as the optimal location for the solar-powered EV parking lot.
