Essential Oil Composition of Marsypianthes chamaedrys (Vahl) Kuntze Grown in Northeast Brazil

Abstract Marsypianthes chamaedrys (Vahl) Kuntze (Labiatae) named by local people “Paracari,” “Boia-caa” and “Hortelã do mato” is an aromatic herb from Northeast Brazilian region. An oil produced from the flowering plants was anlyzed by GC/MS. The main constituents were found to be germacrene D (35.6%), β-caryophyllene(l5.1%)bicyclogermacrene (7.2%) and α-copaene (5.3%).
