Using Costas Arrays to Construct Frequency Hop Patterns for OFDM Wireless Systems

Throughput of OFDM wireless systems depends on the ability of applied frequency hopping codes to minimize the inter- and intra-cell interference. We provide a construction of an algebraically constructed frequency hop code family that achieves these requirements. The construction is based on the properties of Costas arrays. Examples of the codes and how they are assigned to users, and proofs of theorems are also given.
