A new aliphatic acid from Achyranthes aspera Linn. Roots

A total of six compounds isolated from the ethanol extract of the roots of Achyranthes aspera Linn. (Amaranthaceae) are characterised as strigmasta-5, 22-dien-3-β-ol, trans-13-docasenoic acid, n-hexacosanyl n-decaniate, n-hexacos-17-enoic acid and n-hexacos-11-enoic acid on basis of spectral data and chemical mcans, including a new aliphatic acid, n-hexacos-14-enoic acid which is being reported for the first time from natural and synthetic source.
