Reconstruction of Bishop´s residence in Pozega

The Bishopric of Pozega was established in the year 1997. For the Bishop’ s residence building of the former Jesuitical monastery and later archbishop’ s orphanage was selected, located in the Holy Trinity Square in the city of Pozega. Nowadays, Bishop’ s residence is recorded in the Register of cultural monuments. It is believed that foundations of the building were laid on the foundations remnants from the Dominican monastery that was wrecked by Turks in the middle of 16th century. During 18th century, building extension has been made and part of the rooms was adapted for the necessities of Jesuits. In the year 1832, Aleksandar Alagovic, archbishop of Zagreb, bought the building for the purpose of orphanage and till the end of the 19th century, building has been adapted and redesigned. At the beginning of 20th century, third floor has been built and interior was completely restored based on the projects of the architect Janko Holjac. In the paper is shown condition survey of the building in the year 1997 and details of reconstruction that has been done based on the projects of the architect Ana Nada Krpelnik. The idea was to keep harmony and beauty of all original elements, especially of existing vaults. To make it possible, complex planning and construction works have been done.
