Rehabilitation of Urban Pipelines

The City of Los Angeles is embarking on a replacement and rehabilitation program for the distressed portions of its sanitary sewer system which will cost in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Replacement will usually be allowed as an alternative to rehabilitation. The rehabilitation technologies allowed will be specified in the project documents allowing contractors to bid on any allowed alternate. Presently, six different rehabilitation technologies will be allowed. Policies, criteria and standards have been established to govern this rehabilitation program including investigation procedures, analysis and assessment procedures and formulation of construction programs.
