An investigation of zero helix peripheral up-milling

Abstract Thin shear zone analyses are presented. A numerical investigation shows that the circular tooth path is a very good approximation of the true cutter path. The experimental trends are consistent with those predicted analytically and similar to those shown in other cutting operations. The results are examined by statistical methods and the cutting parameters appear to depend on tool edge and chip formation effects.
