Visual and Auditory Symbols: A Literature Review.

Abstract : This report is a review of the human factors literature on visual and auditory symbols. The review is the first step in an effort to develop a set of standard symbols for use throughout Airway Facilities. The topics included in the review are: general principles, experimental findings, and standard guidelines. The report also includes an annotated bibliography and a list of possible research topics suggested by gaps in the experimental findings. (AN)
