APPLICATION OF SCRUBBER RESIDUE FROM MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE TO AN ADMIXTURE FOR CONCRETE

The paper reports on immersion tests and accelerated carbonation tests of concrete containing incineration fly ash that had undergone one or two types of treatment: one of aging, and the other washing in expectation of dechlorinating effect. Based on these test results, the feasibility of applying incineration fly ash to concrete was investigated. The results of the experiments are summarized as follows: 1) leaching of incineration fly ash reduces Pb by agon, while Pb and Cl are reduced by washing incineration fly ash; 2) the compressive strength of containing incineration fly ash is comparable to that of concrete with no fly ash; 3) both the arbonation depth and Cl content of concrete containing aged incineration fly ash tend to increase as the ash content increases; 4) corrosion of reinforcing steel is accelerated when the Cl ion content in the incineration fly ash is high; and 5) the Pb clution from concrete containing aged incineration fly ash satisfies the environmental requirement.
