Analytical analysis of noise figures in FET resistive mixers

An analytical analysis of noise figure in FET resistive mixers is presented. For better accuracy, an empirical noise source model is employed for the intrinsic noise source. The contributions of each noise source and frequency component are represented in a phasor diagram, and a simplified noise figure formula is derived. The modelled noise figure is compared with the measured data, yielding excellent agreement.
