A complete hydroelastic model of vertical lifting gate for TGP sediment flushing outlets with a scale of 1∶(13.37) was manufactured to study its flow induced vibrations. Using this model, the dynamic properties of the gate, the characteristics of gate vibrations and fluctuating pressure acting on gate were investigated. The effects of water level variations and aeration on vibration were also comparatively studied. The results showed that no resonance took place under study conditions; aeration can reduce the fluctuating pressures and change their frequencies; and when downstream and upstream water level was respectively (67.5 m) and (150.0 m) aeration can reduce gate vibrations, however under other test conditions aeration would cause the gate vibrations even stronger due to hydraulic jump attacks.
