A novel reactive power compensator based on current control

In this paper, a novel reactive power compensator based on current control is proposed. The fundamental principle of the reactive power compensator is that the primary winding of transformer is shunted in power utility while multiple secondary windings are connected with PWM inverters. In terms of the substitution principium in circuit theory and by properly control of the output current of the inverter, the transformer can exhibit an inductance or capacitance arbitrarily. The system configuration and control strategy are presented. The experimental results verify the validity of the novel principle as well as the feasibility control scheme.
