Component-based middleware was developed to solve the problem of heterogeneous marine data integration. The marine data integration middleware (MDIM) can read not only several kinds of marine data in file format without any loss of information, but also popular relational database intelligently; It can recognize not only marine attribute data, but also spatial data. The MDIM can be assembled as a desktop platform system to be used directly by operators. It can also be provided as an ActiveX control for developers. Application proves that the MDIM can help to integrate marine data conveniently and effectively. It can also serves as important references to the standard making of marine data in the future.
