Risk Analysis on TBM Jamming in Deep Buried Tunnel

TBM jamming is one of important factors that affect a TBM efficiency,and the deterministic finite element method is mainly adopted to predict the accident now.According to this,the difference between reserved clearance between a TBM shield and a tunnel outline and tunnel radial deformation is used as performance function.PDS module in ANSYS namely Stochastic FEM,is adopted to predict tunnel deformation and the probability of TBM jamming.Moreover,the elastic-plastic analytical solution that takes stochastic factors into consideration is also used and its calculated result is used as comparison. A tunnel cross-section in the West Line of Water Transfer Project from the South to North is calculated by two methods mentioned above and the calculated results are compared.Through comparison,it is concluded that the calculated result of stochastic FEM is obviously greater than that of analytical solution.
