Atfirst, this paperpresents anoverview on thebackground andtechnical merits ofwireless access for vehicular environments (WAVE)systems. Next,aWAVE testbed wassetupandthepreliminary experimental results arereported. TheWAVE testbed operates atthecenter frequency of5.9GHzandadoptsasignal formatdefined bya draftoftheIEEE802.11p standard. Basedonthe experimental datacaptured inatypical vehicle-to-roadside accesspointenvironment, relatedchannelimpulse responses andcapacities areextracted andanalyzed.
